Time marches on .........................................

here we are, the 23rd of June wondering where this year is going. They say time flies when you are enjoying yourself or that is passes quicker with age.

This is my second summer of not having to revise and take exams ........ woo hoo! :) so to keep my mind active, thanks to my dear friend Chris who lent me The Innocent Man, rather than reading books only when I go away on holiday I have been reading John Grisham books that I have not read before. Of his list of excellent novels I have managed to secure one of the first copies of "Playing for Pizza" at our local library.

I can thoroughly recommend: Slipping Christmas, The Painted House (I fought back tears at the end) The Chamber (is legalised killing lawful?) The Appeal (with money you can buy anything) and so my list goes on and on.

I still continue to be on secondment at work...it's only 11 months since I was appointed and still the powers that me can't seem to come to a decision that not only affects my position but also that of a colleague. On the plus side...I am gaining experience that will add to the CV...on the down side......I cannot see one :) Any experience is good!

In five weeks time I shall be relaxing in Switzerland. Before then I shall be welcoming my youngest daughter back from her first year away at University, celebrating 27 years of marriage to Joy, celebrating my grand-daughter's third birthday, harvesting summer produce from my allotment (is eating cherries from my cherry tree as I type this ....yum yum), completing 12 months in my role at work...... oh and planning what I would like to do whilst on holiday.

Last year we did tandem hang-gliding. For someone who does not have a head for heights this was a major achievement. This year we want to try tandem para-gliding and if I can persuade Joy, we shall be doing white water rafting too...all this on top of trotti-biking down mountains and a bit of walking. Did I mention relaxing in Switzerland? Of course I did! So we shall be taking train trips up mountains, taking gondola rides up and down mountains, lounging on top deck of cruisers across the lakes, resting outside our hotel listening to the clear blue waters rush by with a book in one hand and drink in another.

Ah bliss! May the next five weeks fly by and the succeeding 10 days go so slow.
