This year we travelled down to Devon and whilst we stayed in a Hotel http://www.accorhotels.com/accorhotels/fichehotel/gb/mer/6624/fiche_hotel.shtml
we did meet up with and spend time with a good friend whom I first met on the web. http://christinechapmansworld.blogspot.com/
I first met Chris whilst playing backgammon whilst msn operated the "zone". When that closed we maintained contact and now enjoy games found in Facebook whilst also playing Reversi. Chris is a scrabble player of some note and tests my knowledge of the inglish language. When it comes to Scramble he/she who thinks quickest wins!
Chris and my wife Joy were at the same university in the 70s training to be teachers. We discovered that they stayed in same halls of residence even though Chris was one year ahead. Tis indeed a small world.

Chris and her hubby Ray took us on a good walk along cliffs where I was able to take some shots of the stunning scenery.
For two couples who have not met before, we got on fabulously well. We were treated to a good meal in their home and could have chatted "till the cows came home"---except the cows didn't appear. But before then, we were taken for a walk along the cliffs near Sidmouth to Ladram Bay and back! Coming from Portsmouth which is an island with level ground (the higest point is a bridge over the railway), a walk up and down hills helped me discover muscles not known before and lungs that need some further exercise.

A more sedate walk around Sidmouth followed from where I was able to take more photographs. The geology is most unique in this area with its differing colours of sandstone. This is part of the Jurassic coast and further eastwards it is possible to see fossils of dinosaurs from a former age...and that doesn't include the local residents!!!!!!
On Easter Sunday we took a drive to Dunsford Wood and took a walk alongside the River Teign a most picturesque area full of wild daffodils. The cutest bit was when we came across a family of three generations out for a walk. Whilst the baby of the family was being carried the young girl aged about 3 was at the back of the pack with her father finding painted eggs that had mysteriously been placed along the route at the base of trees. Was a wonderful sight to see, a family out together enjoying the Easter weekend and taking part in a past time that has brought pleasure to many a young family May the magic continue for this little girl and her younger brother/sister.
I will add to this post as time proceeds but in the meantime---enjoy the photos.
