using a hand-held calculator to check totals on spreadsheets.
What? you ask---surely excel has accurate formulae....fat chance-----with so many links and "round" functions, it is amazing that even adding two figures together you get a different answer from what a five year old could correctly answer.
So before we publish the final accounts I have to check all calculations.....arrrrgh.
To end the day, I went to see my youngest daughter perform in a show at college. She wasn't looking foward to the show as she has not been happy with the show's organisation and low level of commitment from from students. So with our expectations set at a very low level, we were pleasantly surprised to see a show put on by students, some of which I am sure will have careers in musical theatre....pity I didn't get their autographs. Now that would have embarrassed my daughter---tee hee.
