A weekend in Basingstoke!!!!!!

For those of you who know Basingstoke, you will be amazed to hear that we like going there for the occasional weekend break. For those of you who don't know Basingstoke...it is basically a concrete jungle just off the M3 in southern England.

Now the reason for going there--------during our stay in Easter this year we discovered the restored Basingstoke Canal that runs from Greywell in Hampshire to Woodham in Surrey ---seeing the plants and trees blossoming and budding in Spring we thought we would visit again in Autumn.

On Saturday we took a walk from the Fox & Hounds pub in Fleet to the George Hotel in Odiham---very beautiful with the winter sun shining through the trees--lots of photos taken-----and muscles that have not been used for a longtime being put through their paces....seeing as the round trip is about 19 miles!!!!

For Sunday, we decided to walk from the Fox & Hounds in an easterly direction towards Farnborough---only managed four miles as legs ached too much.

Today we are back home.but as it is half-term week and I too am on leave from work I am sure we will find more things to do and explore.
