Right now, some of you are counting down to Christmas and are thinking that I have got my sums wrong (far be it for an accountant to do that!)
No--"four weeks to go" is the time left for me at my current place of work. I joined the authority 10 years ago as an unqualified finance assistant having decided to embark on a new career in accountancy.
Having completed the AAT exams in one year and then obtaining first time passes with CIMA finishing in 2006 I am leaving to join another authority as their Corporate Accountant.
I am been through a range of emotions since applying for that role----the nerves of the interview---wondering if I really want the job----if they offer it will I accept-----accepting and thinking wow------accepted and thinking oh oh ---------resigning and thinking gosh------wanting to remain committed and professional as I plan for my departure-----feeling anxious about the future role----will they like me---will they accept me------will I settle in-----will I pass the probation period--------will I cope------can I learn all I need to-------saying good bye to colleagues I have got to know some which I can call friends------so many emotions.
I am grateful for all the opportunities that have been given me over the last 10 years but it is now time to move on to pastures new. So for SM & SP who appointed me in the beginning, for JF in supporting me during a tough time, for HT & PP for providing honest feedback and providing help and guidance...I am most grateful.
It is not a case of the grass being greener in the new authority - - - -but I will be!
