Having sought promotion with my current employer for some time I recently applied for a job with a neighbouring authority. I have my dear friend and colleague Paul to thank for advising me that there was a post available.
So the application was completed and I was delighted to be called for an interview on Thursday.
For those that know me, I am one of these people that "what you see, is what you get" applies. There is no pretence with me.....I have a tendancy to put in throw-away comments trying to find something funny in any situation. Not always appropriate especially in interview situations, but hey! that's me.
So it was with great surprise on Friday I received a phone call offering me the position. Gobsmacked or what? Pleasantly surprised! In shock--definately.
My team are genuinely pleased for me-----Paul is gutted that we won't be working together again------and despite our early differences, the girls will also miss me :)
So with two month's notice to serve----it is time to ensure my job is up-to-date, ensure I leave a positive impression and encourage lots of people to contribute to my leaving present :)
In case any colleagues are reading this, I would like a really nice and expensive bottle of fine red wine......tee hee
